Myself Air Vice Marshal (retd) R.K. Mathur and my wife Prabha Mathur are settled in Noida after retirement from Indian Air Force and Kendriya Vidyalaya respectively.

We are living in a good locality with all avenues of decent living including a sports and cultural club at walking distance.  In our immediate neighborhood and in Noida we have been blessed to have many sociable friends and family with whom we have participated in many social group events and club activities.  Because of these we never felt lonely even though our son and our daughter are settled in USA with their respective families.

When lock-down happened in March 2020 we were suddenly confined within our house.  Boredom started showing (how much TV can you watch), and we thought of engaging in some activity which would bring cheer in the gloomy atmosphere.  Out of fun, we did few Tik-Tok type 2-minute skits which came out well and were appreciated by our friends.  Later as it became clear that lock-down is not going to end soon, I thought of writing Memoirs for which there was long standing demand from family members. It took a lot of reminisce effort but when it was completed I myself was surprised that I had this hidden talent - a flair for writing.  “The Memoirs” became an instant hit with the family and there was chorus of demands that I should write more. I then started writing Travelogues for various foreign countries which we have visited and some short stories of various interesting experiences I wanted to share.

Prabha who is already a lyricist, poet and teacher, had written over 150 lyrics many of which have been sung by prominent singers in All India Radio and Door Darshan, and her poems had been published in 2 books.  During lock-down, she decided to record her self composed songs. She also started writing short stories and children’s scientific education short poems.

My own singing hobby dates back to childhood days as music was the main trait in our family.  I did not pursue the hobby during my Air Force Service period due to paucity of leisure hours.  So, when I restarted singing, I could only do a shade better than bathroom singing!  But I kept making serious attempts and succeeded to some extent, but the quality of voice is obviously not as good as it should be due to old age (I am 85+).

It turns out that our son had been storing all our recordings on his computer without it being known to us.  So, it is a very pleasant surprise that he has decided to construct a website and a YouTube channel covering all our activities. I congratulate him and appreciate his efforts and hard work done to make it possible.  God bless him and God bless us all.
